An experimental documentary about the method of communication between a research vessel in the Atlantic Ocean and the crew on land at the University of Rhode Island. Telepresence across great distances enables us to see wondrous oceanic sights and beautiful video decay. The phenomenon of being here, there and everywhere at once unites those hauling the underwater vehicle out of the ocean in the rain with those warm and dry at the Inner Space Center. A meditation on video, and it’s ephemeral nature, as well as an oblique portrait of a young marine biologist who longs to be on the boat but remains docked on the shore. |
