La Chance is a film-documentary about love. A number of men and women were interviewed and to each we asked the same questions: What is love? - What does “I love you” mean to you? - What cannot be missing in a relationship? and so on. As expected, we came up with a bunch of clashing opinions, well depicting how much our expectations can vary from each other. This gallery of feelings and desires stresses our differences, spurs us to question ourselves about love but avoiding any dogmatic approach which might shut out our opportunity to meet the Other. That’s the chance - the opportunity to understand, to put aside bias and certain idealism and open up ourselves to listening instead. We were actually struck by some answers in the interviews, so much that we decided to insert some fictional parts at the end of each sequence, based on the points of view of the interviews, in order to give shape and sound to their own elaboration on the matter of love. All in all, “La Chance” is at once odd and ambitious project, as it attempts to investigate on the most hidden aspects of love from a fresh perspective. |
