A young woman, Sarah, is involuntarily committed into a psychiatric ward after an accident. As she adjusts to this new and difficult setting, still unsure about what it is she needs help with, she befriends two other patients: Jake, a suicidal young man, and Lisa, an angry and headstrong teenager. All of them are struggling with different problems, but as they learn about each other they realize a sense of common lonesomeness. Not sure about her own emotions let alone those of the people around her, Sarah learns that she has to realize herself and handle her own problems before she can help others.
