When a family of Bedouin refugees pitches up in a leafy Thames-side village, Middle-England is shaken to its core. After surviving the horrors of war, the Abadi family from Syria have finally got lucky - or so it seems. Because a home-office cock-up has landed them in upscale Royal Berkshire. Charming and handsome Rashid (22) is instantly attracted to Emily, the English rose next door, and the feeling is mutual. But prejudice and fear conspire to drive them apart at every turn.
