Joseph ‘Gio’ Mauceri came to the United States from Sicily as a young child and grew up in New York City. He worked as a fingerprinting analyst as a young man and then transitioned into the computer programming field. At age 40, he decided to retire and pursue his dream of becoming an artist. He studied art at community colleges; learning intaglio printmaking and sculpture. He immersed himself into the art lifestyle and for 10 years he lived and worked solely for his art… until money ran out. Joe put all of his art ambitions aside and started to work doing odd jobs including driving a cab. “Is my art good enough or Is it just garbage?” is the question he’s been asking himself.
