Eugene Jackson is an 8-year-old boy who, like most children, loves Halloween. After quickly pushing his toys under his bed and announcing to his mother that his room is clean, he awaits his reward: to go out trick-or-treating. However, he discovers that, for some unknown reason, his mother must leave and he is now suddenly stuck at home with a careless babysitter. As a result, Eugene gets into mischief and, in doing so, we discover that what he is truly hungry for cannot be satisfied by mere candy. Eugene does not reminisce about how he used to run from house to house with his pumpkin basket, but instead how he was once with his father. |
