Air Force Sgt. Joe Fitzpatrick meets and marries a beautiful model, Maggie Putnam, on the eve of being shipped off to Spain. When the new Mrs. Fitzpatrick waits to join her husband, she promises him in a letter “the most wonderful surprise that could happen to two people.” Joe naturally assumes that she’s pregnant, but the surprise turns out to be a fabulous new car that he won in a raffle. His new bride and car win him the scorn and jealousy of Spain’s most famous toreador, not to mention the suspicions of his commanding officer. |

This is a very good comedy where a few things go sideways once Debbie Reynolds gets married. She thinks the marriage to her serviceman is just about sex, so once they get to Europe where he’s stationed, she starts trouble by cutting him off for 30 days.
In this period, they win a super-duper new car. Not just any car, but a bright red Futura - the very car that was used to make the Batmobile. At $40,000 dollars, it’s too extravagant & the government wants to take it away. To add to the trouble, Eva Gabor from Green Acres & Disney’s The Rescuers gets interested in Debbie’s cut-off husband - and since he’s cut-off, he’s very happy about Eva’s interest. Debbie responds with an interest of her own. That’s the set-up & Debbie’s quite funny. The unaltered Futura is also great eye candy
