In the wake of the assassination of Usama Bin Laden, the Global War on Terror has been absent a lynchpin, a ‘bogeyman’. Al Qaeda has been decimated, and due to advances in digital surveillance and drone technology, the burden of observation and action shifts from the conventional military structure to the unconventional: the Special Operations community and the soldiers that staff same. No man can fight an un-ending war, and soldiers that perceive their duty as service to their country find their justification waning when their country cannot comprehend their actions. ‘No Good Deed’ seeks to both exemplify and honor the growing fatigue in Special Operations soldiers through a look at the psyche/soma of a career warrior and his team.
