This documentary is the story of 88 year old New York City Photographer Erika Stone, member of the legendary Photo League, who had her first professional job photographing the Bowery in downtown Manhattan as a young Jewish girl at the age of 17. Miss Stone walked the streets of the city of the Lower East Side, the Bronx, Harlem and produced an impressive body of work, covering the her favorite subject: people. Her work is a reflection of the city through the decades, with an often empathetic eye to the less fortunate segment of society. Additionally her payed assignments included photographs of Marilyn Monroe, Marlene Dietrich, Clark Gable, Sammy Davis Jr, to name a few. This film is her story. |
