Was not searching for this movie, but it popped up while I was searching for something else and I’m so glad I found it. Simple, low budget, but still one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time.
It’s not a comedy, but there were quite a few LOL moments and 1 very big one!
Loved this, a great dysfunctional family/world flick. In black and white.
Good movie…. Not what i expected..
‘What do you want to do now? Bust into some silos & steal some corn?’ June Squibb is a gem. Such a great movie & cast. I hadn’t kept up w/Alexander Payne’s movies. The last one I saw was ‘The Descendants’ w/George Clooney which was a great film. Payne has such a way w/representing ‘everyday’ people. I thought this was quite funny despite being played totally serious. Payne has a way of capturing the absurdity in life in his characters. This is a slice of Americana and Payne’s vision captured by cinematographer Phedon Papamichael is gorgeous in black & white.
Of course, this is a slowly paced film as are all Payne’s films. It is character driven rather than plot driven. So if you want an action flick, this is not the movie for you. Still quite worthy viewing for the performances alone from the stellar cast.
