Residents in several Birmingham, Alabama communities are fighting for a healthy place to live. They are boxed in by heavy industry, raining toxic soot and chemicals down on them. People have been trying to leave for decades, but many are stuck, unable to afford to get out. Desperate for help, they often find their pleas ignored by government agencies with a duty to protect them. |
