Based on the short story The Tell Tale Heart and the poem Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe, the film follows the character Jacob who tries at any cost to save his sick wife, Annabel. When his efforts prove insufficient and he looses her, his grief causes him to slowly loose his grip on reality. As he becomes consumed with guilt and a desire for redemption, dark urges begin to control his actions as he descends into madness. |
