Three hopeless New Yorkers survive the unsentimental callous of the city not knowing that somehow things wiil still be alright. Influenced by Leon Ichaso’s “Crossover Dreams,” Sofia Coppola’s “Lost in Translation,” Spike Jonze’s “Her” and Won Kar-wai’s “Happy Together” and “Chungking Express,” this short subject will follow the real living and relationships of real people. This film will feature stylistic cinematography, editing and the kind of commodification that Kar-wai explores. Dan Enrique calls Sentiments “experimental realist narratives” and they will involve a one-man crew, a non-set, guerilla lighting and locations, non-acting and non-props. Sentiments exclusively features a soundtrack of Latino bands and artists. The purpose of the short is to combine these stories of the mundane, trivial, uneventful or semi-eventful together as an experiment to display the sentimentality of everyday living. |
