True Colours provides a glance into the world of young Israeli girls, who create make-up video tutorials. It presents teenage girls in the age of the Selfie, the searching of femininity in it’s early stages and sheds light on the great power cosmetic companies have in forming these girls’ world. The film raises questions about the possibilities the web opens for all of us. About spreading knowledge and redefining who holds it. About who is being exploited by whom and about the things each of us advertise on our way to the glance of the others’. It is a part of a constantly evolving portrait of a generation, that never stops documenting itself and the powers acting around it. |
