Pandora is a short dramatic film about one woman’s transition from a life controlled and monitored by technology, to a life of physiological freedom. Set in a futuristic world, Pandora is comprised of stills photography and SFX. The film utilises this to immerse the audience into a new universe where society has become so reliant on technology that it now governs every human life. The title character is the realisation of technology’s reign over mankind, controlled but content with her existence like everyone else. Fueled by a box of classic films left by her grandfather, she has always had a greater sense of curiosity than her fellow citizens. This curiosity gets the better of her when she is introduced to ‘The Substance’ a narcotic which disconnects the user from their censored life and grants them a completely free mind. Pandora now see’s the world in a completely different way; she feels emotions again. This new found life doesn’t go unnoticed however. She is soon locked within her apartment and the air supply cut. You’re either controlled and safe, or free and endangered. Pandora dies alone on her floor, peering into the void that is her future but knowing that before she dies she has, at least, experienced life. |
