Noroz, who belonged to the tribal areas, lived in a metropolitan city with his father and ten years old younger brother Gulzar. He drove taxi for ten years, collected three hundred thousand. He paid that amount to the girl’s family, whom he loved and married, as Wulvar (a custom in some tribal areas where groom has to pay money to bride’s family). Noroz asks Maryam to take care of Gulzar more than him, like her own child. After a few days of marriage, Noroz dies in an accident on roadside. Wazir Khan (father) wants to go back to village but Maryam stops him due to Gulzar’s education and seeks permission to work in a factory for expenses. Wazir Khan watches a person from village who comes to see Maryam in factory to propose her, which she refuses. He then calls men from Maryam’s family and in their presence it is decided to marry Maryam with Gulzar. After some time lapse, when Gulzar is about more than twenty years of age, he still calls Maryam as Sister in Law and Wazir Khan objects on it that she is his wife. Gulzar has never accepted that fact and still takes her as sister in law. He likes a girl Chammo in neighbors and meets her secretly. Chammo is jealous of Maryam as she is aware of the fact that Gulzar is married to her. Wazir Khan asks Maryam to make Gulzar realize that she is his wife. Maryam prepares herself to feel in the way and gives some attention towards herself to become Gulzar’s wife but same day Chammo’s father catches Gulzar and Chammo meeting somewhere. He comes to Wazir Khan and tells him the story. Wazir Khan beats Gulzar for that and tells Maryam that this all her fault that she set him free and never acted as his wife. Maryam calls Chammo and asks her if Chammo would be ready to share Gulzar with her. Chammo tells her that Gulzar takes her as his mother not wife. Maryam gives up her last hope after this incident and decides to become mother instead of trying to be a wife. Maryam asks Gulzar if he loves Chammo who says yes. Maryam then speaks to Wazir Khan to marry Gulzar with Chammo. Wazir Khan is not happy at all and asks Maryam why she wants to bring a co-wife. Maryam tells him that she is bringing a daughter in law as Gulzar has never accepted this marriage and never acted as a husband. Maryam then tells Gulzar that she is arranging his marriage with Chammo but he needs to divorce her before that to give her the status of a mother. This is a shock for Gulzar but finally he divorces Maryam.
