16mm experimental biographic film ‘Chrysalis’ reflects woman’s fight with affections and their transformation to emotional and intellectual knowledge - emancipation. Dance elements are employed to show flexible and creative way of sneaking out of chrysalis - routine of everyday life, static image elements - allusion to rebirth as a butterfly. Body/nature/earth are expanded from molecule to universe. Image-on-image puts narrative into abstraction, examines masculine and feminine power combinations. It plays with spectator’s seeing, leading him to fiction story or a visual poem. |
