Filmed in the Georgia and New York mountains of the Appalachian Trail, this piece creates a conceptual portal, connecting these places by activating psychic and physical realms. With the opening of a ‘portal,’ consciousness is expanded by enveloping, embodying, the spirituality and essence of a gateway signifier found on the trail, in this case a symbolic trail marker that leads to a threshold, and path. Channeling as living ghosts the characters are able to alter the transience of time into a space where time is eternal. The trail marker signals a gateway, an entrance is revealed by the interaction of the forest and body. By way of mutating actions, deliberate and chaotic, the mind-field itself is simultaneously expanded. |
