Explores the cults of masculinity and rape culture present in high schools and universities across the United States. An outsider in her high school, Sam always watched the inner circle of her peers with curiosity as, year after year, they received red cards: invitations to an alluring and secretive party in the woods called The Hunt. For the first time, Sam receives a red card herself, giving her access to a world she’s long wanted to experience. Isolated deep in the woods, the night escalates from an average high school party into a ritualistic ceremony in which Sam must participate. When her date’s sexual advances begin to take a violent turn, Sam starts to realize that being part of the inside crowd is not as desirable and fun as it seems. |
