Berlin. A hip melting pot. It`s the place where the cool kids meet in bars and cafes. In the middle of the Kreuzberg district at Oranienplatz is a camp - also known as the protest camp. For one year asylum seekers have been living here in tents by choice, to take a stand against isolation of refugees. Among them is only one woman, the Sudanese Napuli - her objective: the change of asylum law. Insel 36 is documenting Napulis fight for freedom, the everyday life at the camp and shows illegality from her perspective. The film displays how dangerous it is for asylum seekers in Germany to claim their human rights. |
