This short Documentary tells the story of two professional rollerbladers from Dumbarton, Scotland. We follow Chaz Sands and Scott Quinn, who give us a unique glimpse into their lives as two of the worlds most progressive and respected rollerbladers and as permanent residents of Scotland’s Infamous Unit 23 skatepark. Unit 23 Skatepark is located on the west coast of Scotland in the small ship building town of Dumbarton. The skatepark was opened 11 years ago by a former crane hire company owner named ‘Chic’ after both his sons were involved in near fatal BMX accidents. Since its opening Unit 23 has grown in size and stature and is now widely regarded as one of the best skateparks in Europe and the world. Coupled with its world wide acclaim, Unit 23 has become famous within the extreme sports world for another reason, Unit Life. For a group of dedicated die-hard extreme sports lifers Unit 23 is much more than a place to practice their chosen past time, it is the place they have chosen to live, eat, sleep and party. Made up of Rollerbladers, Skateboarders and BMX riders their fascinating lifestyle choice harks back to the emergence of the counter cultural movements of Californian Surf-Bums or Punk Rock music & at the heart of this group are Chaz and Quinny. |
