Twenty six years after Marvin was shot by his father, Zeola Gaye, his youngest sister, tells the untold story of what living with her brother was really like and what really happened on that fateful day April 1st 1984, the day before his birthday, when he was killed. We follow Zeola with her sister Jeanne as she retraces Marvin’s physical and emotional journey from his turbulent childhood in Washington DC, onto his meteoric rise to super stardom with Motown in Detroit, through to his final years in European exile before his triumphant return to Los Angeles and his death at the hands of his father. We discover he had a rare musical gift, considered a real musician’s musician whose life and talent influenced people’s lives everywhere. |
