Modworld is a now-defunct gift shop in NYC’s East Village which sold original low-brow art. Modworld the film follows the lives of some of the employees here as they struggle for love, fame, and money in early 2000’s. RICK, the cynical boss, has a crusty demeanor but a big heart and is a caretaker of the others. JOHN, the sculptor. His work depicts cartoon characters in adult or violent situations (‘Drugs Bunny’, ‘Ronald McDahmer’, ‘Booze Clues’) He’s obsessed with his ex-girlfriend, a source of endless ribbing from the others. CHLOE, the rocker. Close to fame several times, but unstable, battling a debilitating depression. Will Chloe find rock stardom, or even just full-time work? Will John reunite with his lost love? It’s a tragicomic soap opera of East Village proportions.
