Another zombie movie, sure. But I have to say that the setting (an elevator) of this movie, was original enough. Which meant that the director had to use of a bit of imagination to keep the audience’s attention. And that was partially reached. At least for me. My problem was with the main character, Claudio. Not a likable person. So that doesn’t start well as far as I’m concerned. He’s a pig, and is cliche in his traits. Dismissive, condescending, arrogant, has a short fuse. Again, not how to make me relate to him. Something else that annoyed me throughout the movie. He kept telling people not to make noise so not to attract the zombies, but would turn around and unnecessarily scream or make noises himself. Come on now! He behaved more like a wuss than a man who can handle a difficult situation, with a cool head on his shoulders (the scene with the shotgun, made me scream at the screen). Seems to be a common depiction of men, nowadays. Inept to deal with hard situations. I for one, do not like it. There were a lot of cliches that prevented this movie from being a classic, with a distinct flair. And it had such a good setting to start. The practical effects were pretty good, but the CGI was laughable, especially the smoke rising from burning buildings. In all, a decent watch, for a one-time watch. But it’s no classic. 5/10 stars.
