OMG! That was one of the most insidious pieces of cold war propaganda I’ve ever seen. It suggests that genocide is the instrument to the ascendance of the chosen “good” people. The reward for killing two continents worth of humans is membership into the heavens; represented by an advanced and eternally-peaceful alien race. The only snag, it involves embracing genocide.
As I pondered all the vaporized children in Russia and China, I decided to give this a 4/5, purely for its shock value. This is truly a fascist fantasy flick; far more subtle and effective than crude Nazi race baiting. Self righteous haters might actually buy this argument, which amounts to, “gotta crack some eggs to make an omelette.”
PS - The world still has 14,000 active warheads. Unfortunately, humans only seem to learn from pain. This movie suggests that peace on earth can be painless for us if we just murder all our opponents. Rubbish.
