Well Trojan war is a legend so it is hard to place in history, but if we except the conventional 12-13th century BC date usually mentioned by scholars, it would still be early for Achaeans like Ithacans to wield smelted iron weapons. There were some iron weapons in Anatolia at that time, mostly in Hittite areas, they were still very rare. I doubt even Trojans at the time wielded such weapons in the legendary war.
