Seems like a lot of people are over or under rating this one.
Its an okay teacher school based comedy which for me has been done to death in recent decades by everyone.
It does meet that fx standard of good while not seeming to measure up to any of their best comedies.
Gives off to me about a 6 out of 10 vibe although thats a little lower than the general internet voting average.
I have seen literally over a dozen far better teacher orientated comedies and plenty of equally watchable once affairs.
A 6 for me is right where i could watch it and not really feel its too grindy or that there is a strong drive or excitement for the next episode.
Often i find when the general consensus on a show or movie rates around a 6 or lower it rarely seems quite worth the time when there are other better options or at some point its simply better to pick your favorite rerun.
Is this better than say watching its always sunny in philadelphia or maybe what we do in the shadows series?
Theres a very long list of purely comedy genre teacher themes shows across so many channels that all seem generally better written and performed or perhaps just overall produced.
I think one of the first ones that comes to mind is always Teachers by the Katydids. It was probably one of the earlier teacher centric comedies i watched and enjoyed.
I can’t even say if ill keep watching it because its kind of lukewarm for me while not being awful just not really including many actors i know and the ones i do i just don’t like well enough to be motivated by the cast or its characters.
Its not bad by any means but just kind of right at that line formed by everything else in competition by theme genre or even the channel which really dominates the similar vibe to other shows produced so it does have that FX audience style of comedy equal to many other fx productions.
Seems more like what i would watch if FX was one of my few viewing options more than anything else.
Say if you had very basic cable and one of the only content producing channels that fit you demographically was fx.
Good cake, good filling, but somebody forgot the icing.
6 out of 10 so far but that could change. FX shows often have strange episode rhythms with character or plot development that can be unconventional often in their series that run 2 or 3 seasons before being retired which is prob most.
