Well, well, well. I didn’t expect this movie to be so good. I’ll admit, when I first read the synopsis, I rolled my eyes in despair. MMA mixed with exorcism? Nah, can’t work, right? But curiosity got the best of me. Yeah. Somehow, the director/writer manage to make it work interestingly. Now, talking about giving the possession/exorcism genre a little breath of fresh air. I don’t usually get spooked by these movies, for I’ve seen so many of them, and I’m jaded. But the possession scenes in this one, TRULY made my skin crawl. They were well done, cat contortion-like and creepy. Can’t stand these ever since “The exorcist”. Now, this could’ve done with some tweaking here and there, but they were minor and didn’t keep me from getting into the story. And surely, the fact that the men is this movie were easy on the eye, didn’t hurt either. The effects were very good, almost barely there. Although the make-up on the satanic leader toward the end, was too obvious and plastic-like. And the acting was pretty good too. The fight scenes were again, pretty good too. They even manage to make me giggle, a couple of times. The only thing that really got to me though, was the subtitles. They were not well translated. But it didn’t matter because in all, I enjoyed watching this movie. Really impressed, South Korea. It’s amazing what a little creativity brings forth.
