While they're very happy with their indoor kitchen, Casey and McKenzie's urban backyard has a lot to be desired, until Alison and her crew step in for a complete overhaul. They start by turning the stairs on the existing decking to create the feeling of a room below, the perfect spot for an outdoor kitchen. Alison brings in composite gray decking and has it cut and mounted into squares to create a unique pattern. Next, a pergola, built-in bench with planters and stone bases come together to make up the footprint for the space. Garapa wood is mounted horizontally to a wall to enclose the space and two grills are installed to give the homeowners options when they cook. To round out the design, Alison and the homeowners make a DIY porch swing and chic herb garden that is both functional and fabulous to look at. |
