Forged in Fire features world-class bladesmiths competing against each other to create some of the most iconic edged weapons from history. In each episode, four of the best bladesmiths in the country will come together to put both their skills and reputations on the line. Whether they are making a Japanese katana, a medieval broadsword, or an ancient throwing blade like the chakram, the weapons they forge will be fully functional and lethal works of art and war. The unique histories contained within each weapon will be creatively told during the forging process and the final weapons themselves will be assessed and ruthlessly tested by our panel of expert judges. These dynamic and explosive tests will be individually designed to push the weapons to their absolute limit. One by one, the bladesmiths will be eliminated until only one remains to be crowned the champion. |

as a chef i love the show but hate when they test it on animal carceses its just a huge waste of meat
I really like this show, but I really wish they would do an episode on forging weapons for ladies. In the Middle Ages in Europe and the Middle East women would have beautiful daggers made (gold and gemstones) and in Japan, female assassins would use the Japanese fans to kill their targets. I don’t think one episode geared towards women’s uses of daggers, knives, swords, and fans would go amiss.
While I am sure that an episode or more dedicated to the weapons of famous female Warriors would be just as enjoyable as any other, I’m afraid that I agree with BladesofTroy when he says that there would have been little to no distinction between what a woman carried to War as opposed to a man.
Those gold and gemstone encrusted daggers you speak of were worn by ALL nobility (Not just Women) and just about anyone else who could afford them, with their functionality being more on the order of ‘Hey look what I can afford to waste money on’ and less about practicality.
Japanese War fans were a thing the Samurai class trained in and used, also both female and male.
very good suggestion! love to see it.
Except that, with the exception of the likes of the fans, while they may have been made for specific woman they were still blades of their time that would have been used by men at the time too. So the lack of significance of them being used by women means the distinction is pointless.
agreed, for the most part.
I Love this show! is therapeutic…
every time they go to commercials a contestant swears they bleep it out and then fade out. If people would just stop swearing we wouldn’t have commercial breaks every 15 mins
I really like this show and want to give a big Thank You to the folks who make it possible for me to watch it.
Don’t like the new host, Just doesn’t have that same energy !!
I also wonder how many of the display weapons (if any) Mr. Baker makes?
To the best of my knowledge all of them. They are made under the same restrictions and requirements as the contestant’s blades.
Does anyone know what happens to the champions’ weapons. They surrender them to the judges, and then what? Do the judges take them home for their personal collections? Do the producers get them? Do they sell or auction them? What?
these champion weapon are than hung on the wall in the shop .. I do not believe they are selling these on any acution … if you pay attention to background you can clearly see winners from previous seasons . so that seems to me as a best possible scenario . Weapons remains in the forge to decorate and thus also continue to show on air from time to time
Not all do, and the weapons change.
No none of them are sold at auction. The laws in NY where the show is made mean the weapons must stay where they are. The contestants “Surrender” their weapons because they aren’t legally allowed to take them home.
Thanks.
