Shot from behind with a shotgun, 17-year-old Ashley Bowman 's death in July 2004 was the result of an apparently motiveless attack. The award-winning documentary series offering an insight into the criminal justice system follows the Greater Manchester police force's painstaking investigation as they discover that Ashley was killed by members of a small-time drugs gang in a tragic case of mistaken identity.
