In 2001, Damean Vernon was found dead by his mother near a Birmingham canal. He was frozen, half naked, with multiple superficial cuts and abrasions around his body. The previous night, he had fled a police raid at the club where he was socializing with friends and family. The police failed to find him and gave up the search. He was wanted on a charge of robbery and had a history of crime including a prison term.The inquest returned a verdict of death by misadventure, with the cause of death being hypothermia. The verdict is rejected by his family and 20 years later, his younger brother, Luke Vernon, searches for answers. |
