A husband and wife are out for a canoe ride on a calm, clear afternoon when tragedy strikes. The boat capsizes and only the husband survives. At first local police declare Arlene Westervelt's death an accidental drowning, but after suspicions are raised that she may have been murdered, police take a closer look. Charges are laid, but eventually stayed with little explanation. In this episode, reporter Jules Knox takes us through the many twists and turns of a mishandled investigation, family outrage and an exclusive interview with Arlene's husband and the accused, Bert Westervelt.
