In this programme, at the out of hours emergency vet service in Aberdeenshire, principal vet David MacKenzie has a busy night. Tyson the miniature dachshund has a heavyweight yelp, Mittens the kitten proves to be a slippery customer, and David helps to deliver some puppies with mixed results. At Edinburgh Zoo, specialist vet Romain Pizzi takes blood samples from some penguins to check to see if they are responding to treatment for a lung infection. He also has to take Mr Black, the rockhopper penguin, to surgery for a spot of cosmetic surgery before the mating season begins. And in Wick, a strong-smelling customer is a reluctant visitor to the surgery. The pygmy goat by its very nature has a strong smell and a stubborn character. Maybe the goat knows what's ahead of him as he is brought in for castration, but he certainly shows his willfulness in more ways than one. |
