Brigid is a young, imaginative and simple-hearted Irish peasant girl. The two people she loves most are her employer, the Canon, and O'Flingsley, the village schoolmaster. But a bitter feud develops between the two men and when this reaches its climax the person who suffers most is Brigid. |
