This family room addition is stuck in the '50s. Vinyl floor, wood paneling and an outdated fireplace add to the overall retro feel. Chicago homeowners spend most of their time in this room and would like to see it transformed into an updated space that's respectful to the rest of the home's classic 1940s bungalow architecture. A dated stone fireplace is replaced with brick veneer, an acoustic ceiling is removed and a built-in banquette adds a craftsman-style dining area. Finally, a window & full light door are added along with new lighting to make room brighter. |
