“The Colored Girls’ Restroom” is Part 1 in a series of historical fiction short films entitled “Debutales”. They are set in the 1960’s. “The Colored Girls’ Restroom has a comedic yet emotional tone. A racist boutique owner is moved by the creativity and giving nature of her upper middle class African American debutante customers who decorate her “Colored Only Restroom” with their own belongings. This film explores emotion, fashion, sophistication and laughs during a dark time in American history. |
