A young runaway injects herself into the life of a homeless man through a mutual love for chess. As the Winter warms into Spring, this unlikely duo’s relationship blossoms until the Homeless Man discovers the Runaway’s struggle against both a drug habit, and being used as a Pawn by an abusive Boyfriend. Unable to withstand the onslaught of either, the Runaway succumbs to both. And, in a metaphor for life, the Homeless Man’s Knight is checked, despite his valiant efforts - and his own growth. |
