Details:

A biography of 82 year old Janusz Dukszta, Canadian psychiatrist, socialist politician and art patron. He lives surrounded by nearly 100 portraits of himself by 40 of Canada’s best portrait artists done over a 60-year period. He is an engaging character, eccentric to be sure, but intelligent and self deprecating at the same time. The film explores his motivations for commissioning this extraordinary body of art which was subject of a major exhibition in Toronto. The film explores his personal history as refugee from war ravaged Poland, his knowledge and love of art history and the admiration and respect of the artists whom he has commissioned to do his portrait. The film itself of course becomes yet another portrait of the man.
