Sofia Cross, a young girl living on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, has until recently, lived a gilded lifestyle where she is a princess adored by a father she holds so highly in her heart and mind. Alongside her father, she has been raised by her nanny, Maggie, a woman whom Sofia considers to be a close and dear friend. On the eve of her debut at the Opera Ball, Sofia’s world falls apart when her mother suddenly dismisses Maggie, accusing her of stealing. Perplexed by the sudden change in her life and suspicious of her mother’s reasons for firing Maggie, Sofia sets out to find the truth in regards to what happened, and along the way, experiences a rude awakening in terms of what she believed to be true in regards to her own life. ‘The Debut’ is a coming of age story detailing a young girl’s first heartbreak, and her resolve to move forward with her own life, all in the midst of world where seemingly nothing ever goes wrong.
