In this poetic meditation on the passing of time, a man explores his family history as a declaration of love to his mother. Michel Langlois has no children. He is the end of the line, the last link in the family chain. Travalling between Quebec and France, past and present, dream and reality, Langlois climbs the family tree and breathes life into long-dead relatives. Using archival photos, re-enactment and documentary footage, Langlois in a way fathers his own child, a powerful, mature film that commemorates lives lived and strengthens his link both to his own family and to the family of man. |
