The Loop is an allegorical tale of a man lost in an endless loop of orchard roads. The 28-minute short was shot in black & white, on 16mm film, and includes an original, classical score. The film blends a rich visual language and surrealist aesthetics with the more conventional genres of mystery, comedy, drama, and suspense. The resulting dynamic is a film that feels in one sense like an homage to The Twilight Zone, and in the same breath like a genuine work of cinematic art, with an existential depth and timeless lure akin to films like Mirror, Ugetsu, Dead Man, and Spirit of the Beehive. In short, The Loop is cinema at its most ambitious: poignant, meaningful, and new. |
