Photographer Florin Andreescu launches this film about today’s Bucharest: a conurbation that is fascinating thanks to the rapidity with which it changes and expands from one day to the next. Chaotic, bustling, bewildering, Romania’s capital displays, with the same nonchalance, architectural jewels from the Belle Époque, the grandiose “achievements” of the Ceausescu era, and the distinctively local signs of a capitalist economy. Enthusiastically rediscovered by its own inhabitants, thronged with tourists seduced by the melange of contrasts that is the city’s street life, today’s Bucharest is, one has to admit, terribly attractive. |
