Alex Jones is a prodigious high school pianist ready to leave home. He has been playing since age two and learned everything he knows about piano from his mother, who suffers from manic depression. It is assumed that he will follow in her footsteps and attend the prestigious Juilliard School for the Performing Arts. However, just as he has inherited her skill as a musician, he fears inheriting her disease, causing tension in their family. He sees her getting worse every day, life is crashing down, and he just wants out. It’s a coming of age film about reconciling one’s dreams and fears and finding a way to move forward when one’s fate is inescapable.
