Details:

Discouraged from using their language in government boarding schools and not yet citizens of the U.S., in 1917, Choctaw members of our Army were asked to use their native language as a powerful tool against the Germans in World War I, setting a precedent for code talking as an effective military weapon. Their empowering story as the original Code Talkers, has been buried in the annals of history for nearly a hundred years.
