A dark comedy about famous stand-up comedian and movie star, Spencer Rhodes, who’s living the high life in Hollywood; sex, parties, fortune, and fame. Spencer bases all of his onstage material on the small North Carolina town that he left behind and, in particular, his older brother, Seth, who literally never left home. After Spencer’s latest movie bombs at the box office, his agent books a big “comeback” comedy special on television but Spencer comes to find that he has a major case of writer’s block and is forced to return home to find that spark of inspiration while facing the people he turned into jokes. What unfolds is a poignantly dark tale about the comedy that occurs off the stage.
