A musical film to celebrate a council estate. Tales of the White City is performed by residents and workers who have their roots all over the world but find themselves rubbing shoulders in West London. They sing their own words, transformed into catchy, comic and at times deeply moving songs by composer/director Benjamin Till. Over 500 people took part in the film, which was producer by Penny Wrout for LandSky, a newly formed not-for-profit company. LandSky aims to get communities more involved with the arts and media, to show ordinary people what is possible with the technology available today. This film is characterised by an authenticity which shines through the polished performances of the ordinary members of the public who are its stars. |
