Daniel, in bowler hat and city vest, ploughs his first furrow. He runs to get Liza when the first shoots sprout up. They attend a party at the home of their neighbors, the MacPhersons. Liza changes her attitude towards the land after a talk with Ada, the hostess. During the winter they struggle hard to survive. |
