‘Early Figure’ explores a piano as it is opened, dismantled, repaired, and reassembled. Camera movement and close up lenses are used to create a passage through a fantastic architecture. Piano technician Julien Leblond, a graduate of Music Composition at the University of Montreal, contributed two free improvisations which were edited to compose the soundtrack. The film was shot on 16 mm black and white film, and blown up to 35 mm. It was processed at Niagara Custom Lab in Toronto. |
