Kantor’s ghost visits the Prado Museum on his 100th birthday. He finds himself in front of the works of art that inspired his own paintings and his theatre: “Las Meninas” by Velázquez and “The Executions of May 3rd, 1808 in Madrid” by Goya. And while contemplating them he encounters some characters from his poor room of the imagination, such as “The Eternal Traveller”, the “Art Student” and “The Infanta”. Past and present intermingle - the Napoleonic occupation of Spain and the Nazi and Soviet occupations of Poland. Memory comes alive in Tom Skipp’s special tribute to this artist on his 100th birthday. |
